Great relaxing place with plenty of things to do a short distance away.
The hotel was beautiful. The town gives you a small hometown experience. Great food within walking distance. You feel like you have taken a step back in time.

The hotel was beautiful. The town gives you a small hometown experience. Great food within walking distance. You feel like you have taken a step back in time.
Dust, spider attempting to share the bed, mouse droppings in bathroom cabinets, thick, ultra soft foam instead of a mattress, air conditioner did not truly cool but only blew air.
I wasn't allowed in...so we left.
The whole experience
Loved it a lot had a blast there with our friends and would recommend to others and would love to go back
Owners were very accommodating to us and our requests . Also great walking distance to restaurants and to have a drink somewhere. We really liked the feel at home vib. Very nice unique place. Loved it very much
Didn’t like that the restaurant in house and the bar was only open on the weekends as we were there in the middle of the week. But understand that staffing is hard if not very busy
Charming old home right on the river. Excellent location to use as a base for exploring Shawnee National forest. The owners are very warm and helpful. Feral cats and kittens greeted us on the porch.
Bathroom needs updating and better ventilation. I would say this is a fantastic place to stay so long as you aren't squeamish about cleanliness.
Historic also needs to be cleaned
Interesting Inn
The room was interesting. The beds were comfortable. The owners were an amazing family. Being the 1st time at this type of lodging was a little disappointing. The description said breakfast included served 8 to 10. This ended up being a bagged breakfast with a sandwich to be microwaved in your room. We were told garbage could be brought down to the front desk. The restaurant had limited hours. Pretty hefty fees were charged for limited services.
Wonderful spot close to Garden of Gods
Clean space, nice owner, good food and beautiful room Adorable place
Breakfast is a lunch-packed type
Great Location to stay to reach all the trails, affordable with a great home like feeling.
Hearty breakfast to go. Dinner was great, talking with guests and owner with her children gives it a quaint comfy feeling. Sitting in parlor my husband played the guitar as we relaxed. Perfect location to visit many of the parks. Locals all welcoming at Diver Down and Lusky's. Affordable drinks and dinner @ Diver Down. Just a perfect way to see the fall colors, and enjoy the Ohio River views. We hiked at Cave in the Rock, Rim Rock, Garden of the Gods. Biked at Tunnel Hill, enjoyed wine tasting at Hogg Hollow and went into Metropolis to see the SUPERMAN of Illinois. Drive across the river into Paducah for cheap gas. Perfect location to stay, plus the history of the Mansion makes it even more intriguing. Highly recommend.
Just a bit more dusting and cleaning of the mirrors in the room would be recommended.
Very unique and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Beautiful room. Difficultly sleeping due to lots of neighborhood dogs barking throughout the night, but we did have our windows open.
My daughter and I spent a night here after a long drive through heavy and windy rains. It was a great place to rest and recover. I loved our room, the beds were comfortable and we had an enjoyable dinner in the restaurant/bar downstairs. The staff was friendly and helpful and we hope to stay again. Definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in the area.
Exceptional
Superb
Definitely a hidden gem, family owned and operated!
Small town and no access to a gym.
Exceptional
Fall weekend trip
We really enjoyed our stay at this quaint, warm and welcoming place. The room was large and filled with antiques. We could see the river from our room. The service was excellent! We had a nice dinner one evening and a wonderful breakfast on Sunday. The sack breakfast on Saturday was perfect to take with us and start our day enjoying the beautiful fall day and National Forest. If you're coming from the city, keep in mind this is a rural area - not many gas stations or grocery stores, but if you love nature, this area can't be beat. The mansion has a great selection of wine so grab a bottle and have a picnic. The hosts will be happy to help you plan your day! Wonderful stay!!
Golconda Mansion House
Golconda Mansion House was amazing! Cool, huge old Victorian house right by the Ohio River that was beautifully decorated. Many different kinds of wine and beer. The host was extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back.
It was to short but a beautiful piece of history this is and beautiful views and great hosts!!
We were there in the down time so we had no expectations.
I can say there was anything I didn't like!! Beth is an amazing host!!
This was by far the most extreme case of false advertising I’ve ever experienced. The property is a cluttered mess both inside and out. Not advertised was that four children live at this property and can be heard and seen throughout your stay. We were advised when we checked in that the kids should be quieting down around the same time as we are going to bed. The walls are so thin that in our bedroom we could hear the children talking and guests checking in and the hosts talking and people in the hallway outside the bedrooms and people coming in and out of the front door. There is no hope for a “romantic getaway“. Our room had only a tub (no shower) which was still wet when we got there and had a clump of hair in it. It appears that nothing has been updated in this house for at least 40 years. Old, grimy bathrooms. The interior of the house appeared dirty, the rugs appeared filthy and old, and they may not have been filthy but it was impossible to tell because everything is so worn. My husband and I left shortly after checking in and did not end up staying there. We did not receive a refund of our $262 that we paid to stay in a quaint historic mansion that somehow had great reviews ????
We had a great evening at the mansion. It was comfortable and had plenty of character to love.
Loved the mansion! Comfortable and felt like home, plenty of fun decor to look at and I love a place with good bones and character. Amazing wine selection and a friendly host/family. Golconda is a cute little town and the location was convenient to our hiking plans for the following day
A wonderful opportunity to experience an historic, old home. Mansions like these, if still standing, are rarely available to the public. If you love old homes, and appreciate those who are working hard to keep them standing, you should visit and enjoy a nice stay. The mansion has interesting rooms to explore and a great place to stay while becoming familiar with this beautiful region.
