Fantastic full breakfast with great fresh brewed coffee; The best bed we had during our 2 week Fall Colors New England trip; large room with full private bathroom/shower; Duane is a gracious host, super helpful and very passionate about ensuring your comfort; Loved the eclectic decorating!

Note that the property is much like an old school B&B with shared common areas for TV, playing pool, music etc. Quiet time starts at 10:00 PM so if you like going to bed early it may be a bit noisy for you, especially on weekends.

No dressers

The best place to stay in Vermont

This place has a soul and character. It is just unique! Cosy, with great design, very comfortable, very clean. Duane and Neko (his dog) are great hosts. The place is just a 7 min ride to Waterbury with great restaurants.

Nothing comes to my mind, we really loved it.

Warm and friendly atmosphere would definitely recommend

Such a relaxed, warm and friendly atmosphere. The rooms were so comfortable and the beds were the best we have had so far on this touring holiday. Dwayne’s hosting was superb and breakfast was delicious every day.

Lovely place hidden in the vermont forest nearby restaurants and view points. The guest Dean is the special of the house. Although he is managing everything alone he get to give a special experience taking care of all the details

Wowww what a great and unique experience. the place is great , comfi, clean and fun to visit. we really enjoyed it it's is a unique experience in Vermont near really nice and great town. highly recommended. note the cabins are up hill ..challnging with suitcases but worth it, do it!

Unique decor and outstanding host

A home away from home in Vermont.

I feel like I now have family in Vermont! I loved everything about staying at the Grunberg Haus. The decor is amazing and it really shows Duane's skater personality. Niko is the best and sweetest dog, who casually welcomes all guests. The breakfast were tasty, but more importantly, it was an opportunity to make connections with other guests. I loved the communal feeling. There are record players in every room and I really enjoyed playing records while I was having in my room. Duane is the best.

We had other plans and couldn't stay longer.

Amazing.

Breakfast and location were excellent. The atmosphere and ambiance was unbelievable. This was like no other B & B we've ever stayed in. A very unique place. No matter where you looked there was memorabilia. Difficult to explain. Photos do not do it justice. Music, vinyl records to play , skate boards, fishing gear, guitars and more.

Unique Peaceful retreat

Everything! The perfect place for a weekend of peace and serenity. Beautiful rooms, amazing friendly atmosphere, e vellen breakfast! Crisp soft sheets. Slept with the door open and the fresh air was amazing! Made so many new friends!!!

That I had to leave...I wanted to just day indefinitely.

Great hotel with character

Duane was a great host and accommodating with my dietary needs for breakfast. The bed was extremely comfortable. I love the whole vibe and character of this place!

This is our second visit to Grunberg! The host Duane really goes out of his way to make sure you are comfortable! Breakfast is amazing and it’s always nice to chat with other guest. Rooms are comfortable and love vintage decor. Bonus on the vinyls and record player in the room!

A Gem

We liked everything. The room was comfortable, clean, and thoughtfully decorated. Our hosts, Duane and Neko, we kind and welcoming. Breakfast was great, too. We left feeling like we'd stayed with friends.

We had the most wonderful stay with our hosts, Duane and Neko. We can't wait to return. Everything was terrific - the breakfasts, facilities, room, location, decoration, amenities, innkeepers! Duane clearly takes a lot of care and pride in the vibe, space, and in caring for his guests. There was attention to detail in every aspect. I think his website clearly describes the vibe - if it seems like it's not for you, you're probably right :) but if it seems like it is for you, hesitate no further!!

Lovely and cozy

What a neat Inn! We enjoyed are stay here very much. So comfortable and quiet. Daune, the inn keeper, was a fabulous host and made us feel very comfortable. He also cooks a great breakfast. And I also have to mention his amazingly beautiful and sweet dog, Niko! Thanks for a great stay, Duane!

This is a simple, casual spot which offers quality food for breakfasts, fun communal dining for guests. Love the benches

Dwayne and Mika are great innkeepers. Mika meets you at night when you come home, in the morning at breakfast. Dwayne runs a great inn and does the work all on his own. We loved our stay.
