All good
Shaker Village is a Kentucky treasure.
As always, my visit was peaceful and quiet. My room was very comfortable and well-furnished with everything I needed.
Beautiful complex!
So peaceful.
Beds were not quite 21st century, but it is a Shaker Village afterall.
Disappointing
Beautiful grounds and delicious meal as always. I am a regular guest and love staying at Shakertown - until this trip.
There were loads of flies in my room both dead and alive. I reported it to the front desk or were like - yes it’s a problem in those particular rooms. I had never stayed by the stables before. It seems like if it’s a reoccurring problem we should be made aware and/or given a discount. I killed at least 5 flies and it’s hard to sleep knowing there are so many more. Definitely dampened the mood of my stay significantly.
A wonderful, immersive experience. Everything clean and comfortable and peaceful.
No notes. Everything was wonderful. I would caution others that the accommodations are within historic buildings so sound does carry. I was able to hear Phone conversations in other rooms in addition to dogs barking. It didn't bother me one bit but if sensitive to sound, plan for it.
We loved the sights and serenity.
A unique historical place. It felt like we were back in time. Very peaceful and serene.
Smaller portions in the restaurant. At least have the option to minimize.
Great experience!
We had dinner there with our kids and grandkids. It was amazing!
Maybe a cozy area rug in our room.
Beautiful place to relax and enjoy quiet shaded walk
Alot of stair climbing. Thankfully I am still physically able
Amazing place and enjoyed learning about the Shakers while we were here.
The whole Shaker experience was amazing. It’s like staying in a living museum. Staying at the property includes a range of free tours and activities and we had time to take part in a history tour which was excellent. Learnt so much we didn’t know about the Shakers. Staff in the welcome centre were excellent. Room was simple and clean with very comfortable bed. Loved being able to use the Shaker pegs in the room to air our clothes overnight. Lots to love about the whole place and experience.
The restaurant was extremely disappointing. Booked a table for 7pm. Didn’t get sat down till after 7.30 and no food till 8.15pm. Instead of having us wait in a comfortable area with a drink and nibbles in hand we had to watch the front of house stressing over the lack of tables to seat all the expected 7pm bookings. The meal when it came was OK but only OK. We had planned to return for breakfast but we’ll be going offsite instead. In the room there was a very ugly portable a/c unit. Weather at night has changed with the onset of fall so it wasn’t needed but it took up large footprint and was very ugly to look at. Not in keeping with the environment at all.
I would recommend a stay here and visit the village. Quite unique and nice stopover driving through Kentucky.
Shaker reproduction furniture. Very unique surroundings in Shaker village.
Air vents were in a strange place and blew at our heads all night long . Hard to find room at night .
For a quiet and peaceful getaway, this is the spot.
Beautiful, serene, educational, unique, very peaceful, historical, and the food in the restaurant was fantastic.
The hiking map made it seem that the trails were easy to find and follow. Not so. One of my main goals was to hike and it was pretty impossible.
The complete package at a fair price!
Great experience! A wonderful cultural emersion with a clean comfortable room. Folks were genuinely friendly and helpful. Tours were very informative and fun.
One of our servers didn’t seem to want to be there the night we had dinner. Everyone had an off day I guess!
Very unexpected. Spent a lot of time in my youth refinishing shaker furniture and building.
Breakfast buffet was simple, scrambled eggs sausage and bacon. Also yogurt and fruit. Great way to start the day on many of the trails covering the 3000 acre site.
The trail signs could have been a little more detailed like, "you are here".
love the peacefulness of the location. exploring the garden was enjoyable.
Step back into the past. Sense the peace and tranquility. Learn about the Shakers. History comes alive.
Every5hing. Friendly staff and excellent informative tour guides. History of the Shakers of Pleasant Hill in a nutshell, well exhibited. The Trustee’s Table offers authentic dishes in a lovely setting.
A few buildings in need of TLC. A work in progress.
Very nice clean and quiet area. Restaurant and staff excellent
Clean and quiet
Stairs
Highly recommended.
It's such a lovely, quiet place. And the views of the stars at night are great. The restaurant is really good too, with local products on the menu (something that should give extra points). There's an amazing free space for the kids to play, which is great. (We stop here on our way to the Smoky Mountains from Chicago.)
Nothing!
Beauty preserved from the past…
It was beautiful and old like stepping back in time. Very well preserved, I felt like I was spending the night in a place from the 1800s you pay money to tour. So peaceful and quiet.
Along way to carry your luggage to the room
An Oasis in Kentucky
The location is beautiful. Very tranquil. And lost of history to explore. Fantastic restaurant.
The western most lodging house was a mile from the main village buildings where the other lodgers are and the restaurant. The building was for newly arrived Shakers (mostly Swedes when it was built) so they were kept separate to prove their commitment to the community. We weren't aware that it was so distant -- but loved the room. Be sure when you book a room which building you will be in and where it is located.
